THE FINISHING PROCESS
Sanding
Sanding is a crucial step in preparing furniture for staining, as it ensures a smooth and even surface for the stain to adhere to. By carefully sanding the wood, imperfections such as scratches, dents, or rough patches can be eliminated, allowing the natural beauty of the wood to shine through. Proper sanding opens the wood’s pores, enabling the stain to penetrate evenly and produce a consistent, professional-looking result. Taking the time to sand thoroughly not only enhances the appearance of the finished piece but also improves the durability and longevity of the stain.
Staining
Hand wiping stain is a traditional and effective method for achieving a beautifully finished piece of furniture. This technique involves applying stain by spray gun, using a clean cloth or rag to work the product into the wood’s surface. Hand wiping allows for greater control, ensuring an even application and minimizing streaks or blotches. It also enhances the natural grain of the wood, creating a rich, deep color that highlights its unique character. Hand wiping is not only a practical approach but also adds a personal touch, making each piece truly one of a kind.
Finishing
Spraying finish on furniture is an efficient and professional method for applying a protective and visually appealing coat. We use a two-component spray pump that mixes the finish and catalyst automatically ensuring a consistent finish. Our standard finish is manufactured by ML Campbell and is Klearvar Satin 35 sheen. We have other options available and our Flat 10 sheen is also a very popular finish. Quality products and cutting-edge spray equipment allow us to achieve a finish that looks and feels great. Remember, your furniture is only as good as your finish!
